True, but I do expect both of those factors to be less significant in 2020. The Russians will interfere, but they won’t convince as many people this time. We know what to expect and what to look for, and we won’t be fooled by it. The voter suppression is still going on, but it should also have a smaller impact. People will work harder to vote this time. People will bring ID if they have to; they’ll travel farther and stand longer in line; they’ll check ahead of time to make sure they’re still registered. Not everyone will do this, but some will — enough to lessen Trump’s advantage from voter suppression tactics. Trump’s opponents are a whole lot more motivated to vote this time, and they’ll work harder to do it if they have to.
